Our Story
Since 2017, a brother and sister - Dan and Sarah - building surf gear on Victoria's Surf Coast that's made to outlast the next one.
A brother & sister, and a love of surfing.
Boardsox was started in 2017 by a brother-and-sister duo - Dan and Sarah - who grew up by the coast, shaped by early mornings, sandy car boots and a never-ending obsession with the ocean. Surfing has been the thread between us for over 25 years. And like most surfers, we got tired of replacing gear that just didn't last - so we built our own.
It all started with a love of surfing.
Sarah was already 17 when Dan was born - she grew up before him, and then grew up with him. By the time Dan arrived, Sarah had already lived a whole chapter of life.
Then along came this grom with sand in his ears and salt in his veins, and surfing became the thread that quietly stitched our worlds together. It's been the constant ever since - a lifestyle, a community and a bit of therapy, all rolled into one.
And it all began with one product - our recycled canvas covers. A surfboard sock tough enough to actually last. The zipperless travel covers, slings, surf hats and travel gear all came later.

Dan puts every piece of gear through real punishment before it hits the website - if it doesn't survive heavy use and overhead sets, it doesn't make the cut. Practical surf knowledge, and a no-BS approach to design. He's also the face you'll mostly see in our videos.
Based in Manly, NSW · also runs Dee Why Salty Surf SchoolStrategy, brand vision and relentless standards. With a background in business, e-commerce and marketing, Sarah's the one asking how to make it better, stronger, more sustainable and more Australian - building a brand with integrity, not just products. A little camera shy, you'll more often find Sarah behind the counter at our Ocean Grove surf shop than in front of the lens.
